The Yamaha MT-15 has finally been given an upgrade since its launch in 2019, and it’s not just the addition of new colours, but also mechanical upgrades and updates to the equipment list as well. With a starting price of Rs 1.59 lakh, the Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 is now Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 costlier than the current model.

The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer hasn’t forgotten about the R15 either, having launched the R15M World GP 60th Anniversary Edition at a price of Rs 1.88 lakh.

What’s new on the Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0?

There’s plenty of new stuff you’ll get to see on the Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0. While its design remains more or less the same as before, it now receives two new paint schemes — Cyan Storm and Racing Blue, extending the colour options for the MT-15 from four to six. In terms of the mechanical bits, the 155cc liquid-cooled powertrain continues to perform its duties, producing 18.1bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm of torque, but the MT-15 V2.0 now features a new suspension setup, with 37mm USD forks up front and a MotoGP inspired aluminium swingarm at the rear. The 280mm / 220mm disc brake setup at the front and rear respectively has also been retained.

Equipment-wise, the MT-15 V2.0 receives a redesigned instrument cluster which now supports smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-Connect app, enabling calls, SMS, and email alerts, along with parking location, and service recommendations among others. The MT-15 V2.0 goes up against rivals like the TVS Apache RTR 160, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, and the Honda CB Hornet 160R, and its prices start from Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.
