Suzuki says deliveries of the BS6-ready 250s will start by mid-June

Strengthening its BS6 portfolio, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), a subsidiary of two-wheeler manufacturer, Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan today launched its BS6-compliant quarter-litre sensation - the Gixxer.

‘Born of Greatness’, the iconic Gixxer descends from the makers of legendary motorcycles: GSX-R and Hayabusa. The Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 boasts of a high performance engine exclusively developed for India using the Suzuki Oil Cooling System (SOCS) technology along with an easy-to-handle chassis. The Gixxer 250 series is designed by taking inspiration from the European trends, making it a compelling proposition for the enthusiast.

Commenting on the launch, Koichiro Hirao, MD, Suzuki Motorcycle India said, “We are pleased to introduce the BS6 Gixxer 250/ SF 250 in the Indian market. Inspired by the legendary motorcycles: Hayabusa and GSX-R, the Gixxer brand resonates performance, style, and sportiness in the country. With the BS6 update, the Gixxer 250 series engine will produce lesser emission with enhanced performance, making it even more desirable to own.”

The BS6-compliant Gixxer 250/ SF 250 underpins a 249cc, SOCS-enabled four-stroke, single-cylinder fuel injected SOHC engine for amplified performance. The advanced engine produces 26bhp@9300rpm and 22. 2Nm@7300rpm. A six-speed gearbox helps provide a smooth ride even at low to middle range speed. The innovative SOCS technology ensures smooth acceleration, high output and low fuel consumption along with ease of maintenance. The advanced engine has been specifically developed to cater to the riding needs of Indian consumers.

Simultaneously, Suzuki Motorcycle India has updated the MotoGP edition of Gixxer SF 250 to BS6 emission norms further appealing to the racing fans.

The BS6-compliant Gixxer will be available in Metallic Matte Black and Metallic Matte Platinum Silver/Matte Black colours, while the Gixxer 250 SF will get the Metallic Matte Black and Metallic Matte Platinum Silver colour, along with the Metallic Triton Blue (Moto GP edition).

While the Gixxer 250 is priced at Rs 1.63 lakh, the Gixxer SF 250 will retail for Rs 1.74 lakh, with a Rs 900 premium for the MotoGP edition ( all prices ex-showroom, Delhi)

Consumers will be able to book the BS6-compliant Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 at Suzuki Premium dealerships. More than 50 per cent of SMIPL’s dealerships have resumed operations across India by complying with Government guidelines. SMIPL will start dispatch of the Gixxer 250 series by the coming week and consumers will be able to get the delivery of the motorcycles from the Suzuki Premium dealerships by mid-June.
