In the last couple of years, Royal Enfield has been showcasing a lot of commitment towards improving the quality of riding gear available in the market at affordable rates. Right from their jackets and gloves, to their collaborations with brands like Knox, D3O and Levi's. Now, Royal Enfield has pushed the envelope one step further by launching their latest collaboration with motorcycle boot giant — TCX Boots. Royal Enfield has launched a bunch of boots in partnership with TCX and you can read all about it here. This review focuses on RE x TCX Stelvio WP adventure boots.
The TCX Stelvio WPs are the top-of-the line offerings from Royal Enfield's catalogue and these are adventure boots. In terms of construction, the Stelvio WP’s use full grain leather for the main construction with plastic adjustable retention straps, a shin guard, a high quality sole with an OrthoLite insole and a comfortable inner liner. The whole package is CE certified and gets a bunch of reflective surfaces to aid visibility at night.
In essence these Stelvio WP boots are the TCX Baja boots that are available in the international market with the addition of discrete Royal Enfield branding on the ankle. Right out of the box, the boots are extremely comfortable and after spending a little time with them, it becomes apparent that you can easily do long days in the saddle with no discomfort. The Stelvio WPs also come with T-Dry waterproof liners but we didn’t get to put that to the test. Now, we would have liked to see the use of Gore-Tex membrane but then again that would have meant a significantly higher sticker price. In terms of protection, it has a reinforced shin, heel and toe portion and the construction definitely seems solid and willing to take abuse. Now of course these aren’t MX boots, so don’t expect that level of protection but then again, these are way more comfortable as well. So, it's the perfect compromise.
We haven’t properly put the boots through their paces but that will change soon, so stay tuned for a comprehensive review. Although our initial impressions of the TCX Stelvio WP boots are that it is an extremely solid set of boots that do exactly as advertised and more.
At Rs 21,000, the Royal Enfield x TCX Stelvio WP boots are on the pricier side for RE boots but an absolute bargain for full-fledged TCX boots. So, if you are in the market for a set of daily riding/adventure boots that can handle long days in the saddle comfortably and handle some soft off-roading, Look no further!
