Contrary to what a lot of us were expecting, Ola Electric did not fully unveil its upcoming car that had been teased a few months ago — you can read about it here. The Indian manufacturer has launched the more affordable S1 at an introductory price of Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom). The S1 retains the design of the S1 Pro, receives slightly lesser range and performance but it packs similar levels of equipment.
Ola S1: What’s new?
The Ola S1 looks identical to the S1 Pro, with a clean, minimalistic design and touches of neo-retro here and there. The S1 can be had in five different paint schemes, such as white, blue, red, black, and silver. Under the skin, it retains the same electric motor that churns out 11bhp and 58Nm of torque. Ola claims the S1 reaches a top speed of 95kmph, and while the S1 retains the same 3kWh battery pack, it can cover an ARAI-claimed 131km on a single charge, which varies depending on the riding mode (128km in eco mode, 101km in normal mode, 90km in sports mode). Unlike the S1 Pro, the S1 misses out on a Hyper mode. In terms of equipment, the S1 receives music streaming, twin speakers, navigation, smartphone connectivity, keyless system, customisable themes for the instrument cluster, an anti-theft system and more. The S1 is also likely to receive the set of equipment from the MoveOS 3.0 upgrade that is due to be launched by the festive season this year. You can reserve your S1 today for an amount of Rs 499, with the early access purchase window opening from September 1, while the normal purchase window opens a day after, i.e September 2. Ola aims to commence deliveries from as early as September 7 onwards.
Keeping the current patriotic flavor in mind, Ola has added a new Khaki paint scheme to the S1 Pro, of which only 1947 units will be made.
