118 years ago, Triumph started making bicycles and since then, there has been no looking back. After a successful run in production of motorcycles, Triumph is entering the e-bicycle market in the UK, USA and Europe. Christened Trekker GT, the e-bicycle packs in Shimano’s battery and drive train, RockShox forks, Shimano Deore brakes and much more.
Let’s talk about the battery and the motor first. The total drive train weighs just 2.88kg consisting of a 250W 60Nm Shimano Steps E6100 motor and a fully-integrated Shimano E8035 504W battery. The total range is a healthy 150km. You get a Selle-Royal Vivo saddle for maximum comfort and control. The handlebar is narrow while the 6061 Hydro-formed aluminium frame has the provision to integrate a lockable battery as well.
In terms of features, the Trekker GT gets integrated LED lighting, full-length matt-black mudguards, blacked-out pannier rack, side stand and ABUS pro-shield integrated lock. Triumph’s heavy-duty security items including 270mm U-lock and chain and ground anchor, and Muc-off/ Triumph cleaning kit complete the Trekker GT accessory line-up.
Featuring a twin paint scheme in familiar Triumph motorcycle colours of Matt Silver Ice and Matt Jet Black, the Trekker GT looks quite elegant enhanced by dedicated blacked-out features and detailing across the bicycle including wheels, pedals, seat post and handlebar stem, plus highvalue cast aluminium Triumph badging.
The Trekker GT is available immediately in the UK, USA and Europe while the availability for the Asian markets hasn’t been confirmed as of yet.
