Earlier this year, spy shots of a new Daytona being tested started doing rounds on the internet. Now the British marque has finally confirmed the next iteration of their iconic supersport. Christened as the Triumph Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition, Triumph will be building two variants- one for the European and Asian markets and the other for the American and Canadian market. Only 765 units of each of these variants would be built. The bike will be at the MotoGP weekend in Silverstone next month.
What will the new Daytona 765 look like?
Though the specs are yet to be revealed, the bike is likely to carry a detuned engine from the Moto2 bike. While the Moto2 engine develops power in excess of 138bhp, the Daytona is likely to make 130-135bhp, making it the most powerful Daytona ever built.
The bike will feature the TFT display from the Street Triple RS and have an official Moto2 start-up welcome screen. Triumph is likely to equip the bike with five rider modes including a Track mode.
Considering that it is a limited-edition model, expect the bike to be showered with top-spec components like billet-aluminium parts, Ohlins suspension, lighter engine components, making the new Daytona considerably lighter than the predecessor.
Though prototype looked similar to the older one, subtle changes have been spotted on the production spec bike’s teaser including a new swingarm, reworked side fairings and a low slung exhaust. The Daytona 765 is likely to carry the Union Jack paint scheme from the Moto2 development mule- with official Moto2 branding.
Out of the 765 units, India is likely to get a few but given the popularity, the Daytona 765 is expected to sell like hot cakes. The bike will go on sale in March 2020 and is likely to be the centre of attraction at EICMA this year.
