With lockdown restrictions being eased, two-wheeler manufacturers are beginning to resume business in a staggered process. May 18 onwards, Suzuki Motorcycle India resumed its dispatch of vehicles and more than 50 per cent Suzuki dealerships have reopened as of May 22. The Japanese brand also reports that 5,000 new vehicles have been sold and 50,000 vehicles have been serviced at respective Suzuki dealerships.

Like all two-wheeler manufacturers, Suzuki has also been prompt in revamping its portfolio with BS6 upgrades. Upcoming launches from Suzuki include the BS6 Gixxer 250 and the Gixxer SF 250. Both bikes were showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 but due to the coronavirus lockdown the launch has been delayed. However, with Suzuki resuming operations we can expect the brand to launch the BS6 bikes with a small bump in price in the coming weeks. The BS6 V-Strom 650 XT is also expected to be launched soon by Suzuki.

Koichiro Hirao, MD, Suzuki Motorcycle India said, “We are pleased to resume our retail and dispatch services in almost all parts of the country except those in containment zones as per the Government directives. We have prepared extensive Standard Operating Procedures for the dealerships which include frequent sanitization and practicing social distancing, assuring consumers that it is entirely safe to enter the showrooms to buy new vehicles and get the existing ones serviced. In addition, SMIPL also plans to introduce various initiatives allowing easy ownership and support for our dealer partners.”
