Kawasaki India has launched the MY 2020 Versys 1000 in India at Rs 10.69 lakh after opening the pre-bookings in November for Rs 1.5 lakh. The motorcycle will be available in pearl flat stardust white and metallic flat spark black color. Customers who pre-booked the Kawasaki Versys 1000 can expect the deliveries from March 2019.  The Versys 1000 goes up against the likes of Ducati Multistrada 950 and the Honda Africa Twin.

Powering the Versys 1000 is a 1043cc, inline-four churning out 118 horses and 102Nm of peak twist. Braking duties are done by twin semi-floating 310mm discs and four-piston, radially mounted monobloc calipers with a 250mm disc at the rear. The MY20 Versys 1000 will be assembled at the company’s facility in Chakan, Pune. It features Electronic Throttle Valves (ETV), which enables the addition of Electronic Cruise Control. This eliminates the need of a throttle cable and replacing it will be the accelerator position sensor located on the handlebar. The suspension settings are also updated for more comfort, says the company.  Apart from the standard ABS, the Versys 1000 is also equipped with the Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System (KIBS) and Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) that offers three ride modes for tackling different terrains. Other features that the bike comes with include adjustable windscreen, twin LED headlamps and a digital/analog instrument console.

The bike is now Rs 2.5 lakh cheaper than the previous model, thanks to the CKD route Kawasaki chose as opposed to the earlier CBU model.
