Kawasaki recently unveiled its refreshed Ninja 650. The new 650 gets a redesigned front end that takes cues from the ones on the Ninja 400, ZX-6R and Versys 650 and Versys 1000. But that's not all, as the new 650 also gets a twin-LED headlight. Also new is the redesigned windshield that now sits flush with the upper cowl, though it is now at a more upright angle.
Nestled behind the windshield is the most significant change, in the form of a new 4.3-inch TFT display, which replaces the digital-analogue combo of its predecessor. Along with the usual plethora of guages and tell-tale lights, the system will also offer smartphone connectivity, allowing users to connect the motorcycle to the Rideology app, which, in turn, will let you monitor and view vehicle info, riding logs, and phone notifications.
Now moving to the side, the fairings have undergone a slight makeover, making the Ninja 650 look a bit more sporty. However, the pillion seat now seems wider and thicker. Also, the update sees the Ninja 650 get Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres.
Mechanically, the Ninja 650 remains unchanged, with Kawasaki not mentioning any changes in power or torque figures. However, we expect the 649cc parallel-twin to be BS6-compliant while making similar figures, which are 67bhp at 8,000rpm and 66Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. Lastly, speaking about the prices, the previous iteration retailed at Rs 5.89 lakh for the standard, and Rs 5.99 lakh for the KRT livery. At the moment, the manufacturer has quoted the prices at $7399 (Rs 5.26 lakh) for the non-ABS version. However, since ABS is mandatory for motorcycles above 150cc in India, we expect the Ninja 650 to retail at a slight increment.
