Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has added to its list of BS6 bikes with the launch of the Livo BSVI at Rs 69,422 (ex-showroom Rajasthan) onwards for the drum brake-equipped variant. The Livo BSVI slots above the CD 110 Dream BS6 in the brand’s lineup, and counts the Hero Motocorp Passion Pro and TVS Star City Plus as its rivals. The Livo BSVI can be had in a choice of four paint schemes (Athletic Blue Metallic, Matte Axis Gray Metallic, Imperial Red Metallic and Black) and two variants (drum and disc). Deliveries for the Livo BSVI are set to start by the end of the week.

Starting with the biggest change, the engine. As with all manufacturers in the BS6 era, the Livo BSVI engine is now fuel-injected, running the brand’s tried and tested PGM-FI tech, which uses sensors to inject the optimum fuel and air mixture. Next, it also gets the brand’s trademark ACG (AC Generator) starter which generates current and charges the battery while riding, eliminating the need for a conventional starter motor. Diving further into the mechanical aspect, the Livo BSVI’s engine aids decompression during cold starts with slightly opened exhaust valves (at the beginning of compression stroke) and the brand’s patented Swing Back feature which slightly rotates the crank in the opposite direction, allowing the piston to take a ‘running start’ and making it easier to start the engine with a smaller amount of power.

Another smart piece of tech is the offset cylinder and use of roller rocker arm with needle bearing which reduces the frictional loss, which helps smoothen power delivery, and improve fuel efficiency as well, supplemented by the piston cooling jet which improves overall engine cooling, further adding to fuel efficiency figures. Lastly, the Livo BSVI comes fitted with rear HET (Honda Eco Technology, essentially a low rolling resistance) tubeless tyre for improved fuel efficiency.

Moving now to the chassis bits, and since the Livo BSVI is aimed at the layperson looking for a reliable, comfortable commuter, it gets a 5-step adjustable rear suspension which can be altered as per road conditions for a smoother ride. The seat, too, is 17mm longer, for ample space and comfortable urban jaunts.

The Livo BS6 also features tech like a Service due indicator, which reminds the rider to get the vehicle serviced. The blinking indicates the vehicle has reached the specified distance for service while continuous glow signifies that vehicle has crossed the specified distance for service. As another industry first, Honda is offering a special 6-year warranty package (3 years standard + 3 years optional extended warranty) on Livo BSVI, no doubt reinforcing the ‘reliable and peace of mind ownership experience’ nous associated with the brand.

Speaking about the launch of the Livo BSVI, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, director, sales and marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India said, "In our BSVI line up, we continue to create new value that enhances the quality of daily life and reinforce customer trust and confidence in our brand. Since its launch in 2015, Livo has been a favourite among aspirational buyers in its category. Equipped with Honda's latest technology & its urban design, Honda Livo BSVI will raise the bar of style, performance and value in its segment”.
