Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd (HMSI) has launched the updated version of the Navi at Rs 44,775 (ex-showroom, Delhi).  The moto-scooter now gets a body-coloured grab rail, headlight cover and rear view mirrors. The monoshock is coloured red. It also gets a metal muffler protector (plastic on the predecessor) and a much needed fuel gauge. You also get two new paint schemes to choose from – Ranger Green and Ladakh Brown.

The 2018 Honda Navi remains mechanically unchanged. It makes 7.9bhp and 8.96Nm  thanks to its 109cc single cylinder mill, sourced from the Activa. The Navi was first launched at the Auto Expo 2016 and was also the first model, completely developed in India by Honda.

At the launch of the 2018 Honda Navi, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, the senior vice president of sales and marketing at Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “In the diverse Indian two-wheeler market, Navi stands out firmly with its unique fun proposition. The trendy Navi is a style statement for the youth and the new 2018 upgrades take it notch higher. Along with the convenience value addition like stylish fuel gauge and muffler protector, new vibrant colors offer an extra zing for those who have an appetite for uniqueness. We will continue to surprise our customers and add more fun for the riders.”

The addition of fuel gauge in the Navi is a welcome move by the company, as the customers had to keep a close watch on fuel levels in the earlier model. But Honda has failed to capture the attention of scooter buyers with the Navi, as the sales figures will tell you. The Activa is the best selling scooter for Honda, selling close to 3.39 lakh units per month (April 2018), compared to the Navi’s minuscule sales figures.
