HMSI has launched the CB Hornet 160R at a starting price of Rs 84,675 for the standard variant. There are four variants of the motorcycle. The CBS variant slotted above the base variant is priced at Rs 89,175, while the ABS Standard and the top-of-the-line ABS DLX variant are priced at Rs 90,175 and Rs 92,675 respectively. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
Some of the features that make their way into the 2018 CB Hornet 160R are the LED headlamps, hazard switch and single channel ABS. Mechanically the motorcycle remains the same and is powered by the same single cylinder air-cooled 162.71cc engine that makes 14.9 horses and 14.5Nm of maximum twist. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
The Hornet goes up against rivals like the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ- Fi and the recently launched TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. While the segment leader, Suzuki Gixxer is priced at Rs 77,015 and Rs 80,929, it does miss out on some features like ABS, LED headlamp and a hazard switch. The Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 on the other hand is priced at Rs 81,626 and makes more power than the Hornet, at 15.3bhp. It too misses out on LED headlamps and ABS. The TVS Apache RR 160 4V is priced at Rs 81,490, going all the way to Rs 89,990 for the EFI variant. The Yamaha FZ-Fi and the FZS-Fi are priced at Rs 81,040 and Rs 86,042. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. Yamaha is the only manufacturer to move on from carburettor and equip its entire FZ range with Fi.
