Hero Electric has launched its all-new electric scooter, Dash at Rs 62,000. The brand has also unveiled the extended-range variants of the Optima and Nyx scooters which are available at Rs 68,721 and Rs 69,754 (both ex-showroom, India). The Dash competes against the likes of the Greaves Ampere Zeal.

All about the new Hero Electric scooters

Hero Electric’s new scooter is loaded with premium features like LED headlights with DRLs, a digital instrument cluster, USB mobile charging port, tubeless tyres and gets an integrated boot opening mechanism as on many conventional scooters. The Dash is powered by a 48v 28Ah Li-ion battery that promises a charging time of four hours with the fast charger and a range of 60km per charge. The scooter has a ground clearance of 145mm

The updated extended range offerings, Optima ER and Nyx ER are equipped with dual Li-ion battery, offering a range of 110km and 100km on a single charge respectively, addressing the issue of range anxiety associated with electric scooters. Given their lesser investment (with regards to both purchase price as well as overall running costs), they make for great commercial scooters.

Currently, Hero Electric has 615 showrooms pan-India, and the brand intends to scale up to 1000 dealerships by the end of 2020. With the Government favouring the growth of electric mobility, Hero Electric plans to ramp up the production in the next three years to five lakh units per annum. Moving forward, Hero Electric’s High-Speed Series scooter offerings would be FAME-II compliant and with the revised GST rates on batteries and chargers, the scooters will be more affordable.
