Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally has been unveiled globally in the Ducati World Premiere 2022 web series. This motorcycle is based on the Multistrada V4 S and now gets some suspension tweaks, tweaked riding mode and increased fuel tank capacity.
2022 Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally design
On the exterior front, the Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally remains similar to the Multistrada V4 S. The windscreen is now 40mm taller and 20mm wider than before. Moreover, the tail has been lengthened so the pannier mounts can be moved back to offer more legroom for the pillion. It also gets a bump up in fuel tank capacity which now stands at 30 liters, up from 22 litres. All in all, the focus of the Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally is to increase rider & pillion comfort and make it more suited to touring.
2022 Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally chassis
The underpinnings of the new Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally remain the same as before with the monocoque aluminium frame, with a double-sided swingarm. The improvement lies in the suspension travel which now is 200mm for both front and rear, increased from 170mm at the front and 180mm at the rear on the V4 S. However, the ground clearance remains the same at 220mm.
2022 Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally engine
The Multistrada V4 Rally shares its powertrain with the rest of the Ducati V4 family – a 1158cc V4 Granturismo engine delivering 167bhp and 121Nm torque at 8750rpm. The engine might be the same but there is new cylinder deactivation tech. Previously, the rear bank of cylinders would deactivate only at idle, but now the engine can deactivate the cylinders while the bike is running with the engine under low loads. This aims to reduce heat near the saddle for comfier long-distance rides.
2022 Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally features
In terms of features, it gets improvement in the Enduro riding mode which now gets a dedicated Power mode. The Power mode limits the power of the engine to 112bhp without dulling down throttle responses. Other electronics that could interfere with off-road riding like the rear wheel ABS, cornering ABS and rear lift control are suppressed. The other features such as the 6.5-inch TFT colour display, adaptive cruise control with front and rear radar system, and blind spot detection remain the same as on the V4 S.
2022 Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally rivals
The Multistrada V4 will be going up against the likes of BMW R 1250 GS A and the Triumph Tiger 1200. Internationally, it is expected to arrive in dealership starting February 2023 and will be priced at a slight premium over the Ducati Multistrada V4 S.
