Ducati Diavel 1260 has won the prestigious “Red Dot Award: Best of the Best” in the Product Design category. This is the third win for the Bologna-based company after the first award clinched by 1199 Panigale in 2013 and the XDiavel S in 2016.
The Red Dot Design Award, since 1955, is awarded to the entries for their design and innovation. Over 5,500 products were evaluated and a jury of 40 experts awarded the Diavel 1260 for its striking design. The award ceremony will take place on July 8 in Germany this year.
Speaking on the occasion, Andrea Ferraresi, Ducati Style Centre Manager said; “It’s never easy to win such important and sought-after recognition as the Red Dot Award. Succeeding for the third time thanks to another iconic bike like the Diavel 1260 is a tribute to the creativity and innovation of Ducati, which fills us with pride. Even though we are aware that our motorcycles are exciting, refined and good-looking, it is always gratifying and stimulating for those who work in the field of design and style to receive such important recognition. A huge number of entries from major protagonists of design throughout the world competed for the award. Now we look forward to the same level of enthusiasm from our fans”
The Ducati Diavel 1260 packs a 1262cc Testasretta DVT V-twin powerhouse churning 156bhp and 128Nm of peak twist. The electronics include Cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control and riding modes. Dropping the anchor are twin discs at the front with radially-mounted 4-piston monobloc calipers from Brembo. The rear brake gets a 265mm disc with a 2-piston Brembo caliper. The Diavel 1260 tips the scales at 218kg.
Ducati also has a top-of-the-line Diavel 1260 S that features a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. The S variant also comes with 48mm adjustable Ohlins forks at the front and a fully adjustable Ohlins monoshock.
Ducati India currently retails the Diavel 1200 while the upgraded 1260 is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2019.
