Suzuki Motor India Private Limited after the launch of its BS6 compliant scooter Access 125, launched its first set of BS6 compliant motorcycles with the Gixxer, Gixxer SF and the Gixxer SF MotoGP edition. The bikes do not get any cosmetic updates, apart from the technical BS6 wizardry. The BS6 compliant Gixxer is priced Rs 1.11 lakh, the Gixxer SF costs Rs 1.21 lakh and the MotoGP edition is launched at Rs 1.22 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

The Gixxers retain the same frame, telescopic forks and monoshocks.

Both motorcycles, the Gixxer and Gixxer SF get the same air-cooled and fuel injected 155cc engine that delivers 13.4bhp at 8000rpm and 13.8Nm of torque at 6000rpm, which is a marginal drop (0.5bhp and 0.2Nm) when compared to the BS4 models. There is a slight bump in price also with the Gixxer and Gixxer SF now getting dearer by Rs 12,000. Both the models are heavier by 1kg and 2kg respectively, with the addition of a catalytic converter to improve emissions.

There is no official word from Suzuki about any change in the cycle parts either as they remain the same as that of the BS4 models. The Gixxers retain the same frame, telescopic forks and monoshocks. The front and rear disc come unchangead with the single-channel ABS setup.

The BS6 compliant Gixxer series is now on sale and is available at all Suzuki showrooms. Other BS6 motorcycles in this segment include Yamaha FZ-S and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
