Benelli has launched the TRK 502 with a BS6-compliant motor at an introductory price of Rs 4.8 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 20,000 cheaper than the outgoing BS4-compliant iteration of the TRK 502. However this price applies only for the metallic dark grey colour, should you opt for the white and Benelli red colour, it’ll cost you Rs 4.9 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, let’s take a look at what’s new on the TRK 502.
The liquid-cooled 500cc twin-cylinder BS6-compliant engine puts out 46.8bhp and 46Nm and is paired to a six-speed gearbox. Aside from the updates to the engine, not much else has changed here.
The BS6-compliant TRK 502 gets a redesigned instrument cluster and by redesigned, we mean it gets new colours. There’s also a new aluminum rear box bracket which, according to Benelli, eliminates all limits to mounting luggage.
Other than this, Benelli has made a few ergonomic changes to the TRK. The seats are aesthetically different and, according to Benelli, it offers the right amount of padding to aid comfort and rideability. The mirrors are also broader and longer for better visibility. And Benelli has also thrown in an adjustable handlebar which features backlit control switches and stronger knuckle guards.
Commenting on the launch, Vikas Jhabakh, MD, Benelli India, said, “We are delighted to introduce the BS6 TRK 502. It is the perfect amalgamation of an innovative technological phenomenon, unmatched ergonomics, enhanced functionality and uncompromised quality. With the transition to BS6 norms, we are confident in further strengthening our footprint in the premium touring segment.”
As it stands, the TRK 502 doesn’t really have a direct competitor in the Indian market. But in terms of experience, the more expensive Kawasaki Versys 650 and the more affordable KTM Adventure 390 come closest. Bookings for the Benelli TRK 502 is open at Rs 10,000 at dealerships across the country while there is no word on the more off-road focused TRK 502X.
