Benelli has launched its first BS6 compliant product in the market today in the form of the Imperiale 400. The classic motorcycle goes up against the likes of Jawa and Royal Enfield 350.

The Benelli Imperiale 400 will be on sale from the first week of August and bookings for the bike have already commenced on the official website. The booking amount for the retro-cruiser bike is Rs 6,000 and it will be offered in three colours options Silver, Black and Red.

BS6 Imperiale 400 gets the same 374cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor with fuel injection. It still churns out 21bhp and 29Nm of torque and is paired to a five-speed manual transmission. Based on a double-cradle chassis the Imperiale 400 gets a telescopic front suspension and a pre-load adjustable mono-shock at the rear. On the features front, it gets a dual-channel ABS system.

The USP of the Imperiale is it’s after-sales package though. It comes with a three-year unlimited kilometres warranty as standard, complimentary services for the first two-years covering five-periodic maintenance services, pick-up/drop service and 24x7 roadside assistance. Benelli also gives you access to its Imperiale Raiders community with planned breakfast rides, day rides, zonal rides and national rides that will be conducted across the country after the lockdown is lifted.

Commenting on the launch of the Benelli Imperiale 400, Vikas Jhabakh, Managing Director, Benelli India, said, “We are delighted to introduce the BS-VI Benelli Imperiale 400. The premium retro cruiser became popular since the day it was launched and is a favourite amongst many classic motorcycling fanatics. With the transition to BS6 norms, we are confident about strengthening the Imperiale brand further, establishing Benelli’s identity in the entry-level classic motorcycling segment.”

The price hike of Rs 30,000 has made the Imperiale an expensive prospect. The BS6-compliant Royal Enfield Classic 350 range starts at Rs 1.57 lakh while the Jawa range starts at Rs 1.73 lakh.
