The Bajaj Platina is one of the one of Bajaj’s best-selling motorcycles in the commuter segment that is dominated by the likes of the Hero Passion. But, now, the Platina 110 gets a feature that sets it apart from the rest of the bikes in the segment – single-channel ABS. It’s a segment first!
The Platina 110 ABS gets single-channel ABS on its 240mm disc upfront and CBS on the 110mm drum brake at the rear. The bike is based on the Platina 110 H-Gear. So, it gets the same BS6 compliant 115.45cc single cylinder engine that puts out 8.4bhp of power at 7000rpm and 9.81Nm of torque at 5000rpm. Holding things together is a tubular single down tube with a lower cradle frame setup. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks up front and twin shock setup at the rear. The fuel tank on the bike can hold up to 10.5-litres of petrol, but that should be enough considering the insane mileage you get from these commuters. The whole package with all fluids topped up, tips the scales at 123kg.
In terms of features, the Platina 110 ABS gets the same quilted seat found on the Platina 110-H gear. The bike gets an LED headlamp with an integrated DRL. The instrument cluster now gets an ABS indicator. It is also the only bike in the segment to get knuckle guards as well. The Platina 110 ABS can be had in three colour finishes namely charcoal black, volcanic red and beach blue.
Speaking on the launch of the Platina 110 ABS, Sarang Kanade, President, Domestic Motorcycles Business Unit, Bajaj Auto Ltd said, “The new Platina 110 ABS offers unmatched safety by offering riders complete control over unforeseen braking scenarios. We hope that millions of Indians who ride across varying terrains and roads of the country would take cognizance of the need to keep themselves and their loved ones safe and upgrade to the best-in-segment braking technology. The brand Platina has an unmatched proposition of Comfort with over 7 million satisfied customers as a testament to its segment-leading attributes and now with the addition of ABS, it remains a generation ahead of its competitors.”
The addition of ABS to the Platina 110 has effectively made it one of the safest commuter bikes and it is nice to see manufacturers take the safety of all their customers into consideration. The Platina 110 Abs is rivalled by the likes of the Hero Passion Pro, TVS Radeon and Honda CD 110 Dream.
