The trend of Chopper motorcycles began in the US in the 1950s and it has a strong audience in India as well. Avantura Choppers, an Indian brand founded by Gaurav Aggarwal and Vijay Singh, will now be catering to the needs of the chopper motorcycle market in India. The company has made agreements with some renowned automotive parts manufacturers from across the globe to import parts and assemble them in India.

The sum total of parts imported for the said motorcycles would mainly be hailing from the great US of A! Massive 2.0 litre V-twin American motor will be the key component to arrive from the States as well as Rivera’s six-speed transmissions, suspension components from Progressive and customised seats from Mustang (not Ford!). German comapny Kellerman would provide lighting solutions while retardation duties would be taken care by French brake manufacturer Breinger. Finally, the motorcycle will come shod with Avon Cobra tyres, the same ones found on the Triumph Bonneville Bobber.

From the photo, one can make out the minimalist fuel tank, tonnes of chromium treatment, raked out front end and ape handlebars giving the bike the whole Americano customisation theme as it looks groovy with the two tone colour scheme and pin-striping.

“The brand, ‘Avantura Choppers’ symbolizes the premium quality and supreme power that is a chopper motorcycle. With that in mind, we have produced these masterpieces for riding connoisseurs by curating the entire experience. And the fact that we’re the first Indian company in the space, adds challenge to the pride,” said Gaurav Aggarwal, Founder, Avantura Choppers at the launch of the brand.

The large cubic capacity cruiser segment in India has been the stronghold of foreign brands such as Harley-Davidson, Triumph and Indian Motorcycles, Harley being the major player here. Avantura Choppers is targeting a 7-8% market share of the 1600cc and above segment in India. Slated for launch by the end of this year, the initial models are currently undergoing the local homologation procedures.
