India Yamaha Motors (IWM) has re-launched the much awaited YZF-R3 in the presence of Yamaha’s brand ambassador John Abraham. A big drawback from the previous generation was lack of ABS and substandard tyres. Those issues have been completely eradicated as the 2018 R3 now gets dual channel ABS and super-sticky Metzeler M5 rubbers. Other than that, the motorcycle is now BS IV compliant and you can bring one home for just Rs. 3.48 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
Yamaha R3 is powered by a 321cc, twin cylinder engine producing 41.4bhp at 10,750 rpm and 29.6Nm at 9000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Tipping the scales at just 173 kg, it is undoubtedly the most effective twin-cylinder motorcycle of its segment.
“The success and popularity gained by the YZF-R3 in India is a major achievement by the company. The development team has put all of their engineering skills and passion into developing this new model with dual channel ABS in order to provide improved riding experience and more excitement to the customers” says Mr. Motofumi Shitara, Chairman of Yamaha Motor India.
