Connected vehicles are soon becoming a reality. No, it is not a technology that comes only with electric two wheelers, but it is a device that can be fitted to any two wheeler that can pinpoint the location of the bike in the event of a crash and also allows the user to remotely immobilise his/her vehicle in case of theft. The solution was launched by Aeris at the on-going Internet of Things (IoT) India Expo Conference.
The solution helps to keep track of speed of the bike, provide a maintenance schedule and track real time location. It also comes with a geo-fencing feature that gives information when the bike enters or leaves a specified area. All these applications make the device useful for fleet operators while insurance firms can also make use of the data.
Dr. Rishi Bhatnagar, president, Aeris India said, “Our solution is all about making our roads safer for bike riders. Rider safety is a crucial benefit that this product delivers. We have seen in the past that locating a crash victim often is a tedious task, especially on roads in remote areas. Any delay in locating the victim can be life threatening. The connected bike solution from Aeris can help here as well. Beyond all this, it delivers a truly connected experience to bike owners, making bike riding a more pleasant experience.”
