Fresh off the launch of the Apache RTR 200 4V with riding modes and single channel ABS, TVS has launched the 2021 Apache RTR 160 4V. The bike now makes more power and torque than the outgoing model and weighs less as well. And best of all, all these changes and the Apache RTR 160 4V still costs the same – Rs 1.07 lakh (ex-showroom) for the drum brake variant and Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) for the disc variant.
Engine and Chassis
The 2021 Apache RTR 160 4V is powered by a BS6 compliant 159.7cc single-cylinder mill that puts out 17.3bhp at 9250rpm and 14.73Nm of torque at 7250rpm. This is 1.5bhp and 0.61Nm more than the motorcycle it replaces. The engine continues to be mated to a five-speed gearbox. In terms of the frame, it uses a double cradle split synchro stiff frame and suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork set up at the front and a monoshock at the rear. In terms of brakes, it gets a 270mm petal disc upfront with a two-pot caliper and the option of either a 130mmm drum or a 200mm disc with a single-piston caliper at the rear. TVS claims that it has managed to shed 2kg and the disc variant now weighs in at 147kg and the drum brake variant tips the scales at 145kg.
The bike also gets a new dual tone seat with a carbon-fibre pattern. The 2021 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V continues to be offered in the same three colour finishes, namely Racing Red, Knight Black and Metallic Blue.
Commenting on the launch of the 2021 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Meghashyam Dighole, head, marketing, premium motorcycles, TVS Motor Company said, “Backed by 38 years of racing pedigree, the new 2021 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V offers best-in-class performance with enhanced power to weight ratio and increased torque, offering our customers better-riding experiences along with advanced technologies. We can’t wait to get our hands on the 2021 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and pit it against the outgoing model to see how different the performance is. The bike will be rivalled by the likes of the Hero Xtreme 160R and the Honda Hornet 2.0.
