The Triumph Street Triple has redefined the middle-weight naked sports category since its global launch in 2007. Since then, we’ve seen multiple generations of the Street Triple and its more powerful RS sibling. More recently we also got astride the 2020 Street Triple RS and it’s certainly one of our favourite naked middleweight bikes. And now, Triumph has unveiled the new 2020 Street Triple S in a fresh avatar along with a slew of mechanical and electronic upgrades.

The biggest change is the 660cc inline 3-cylinder engine that churns out 94bhp and 66Nm. The Euro-5 compliant motor can be restricted to A2 standards. There are subtle yet significant upgrades on the styling front even that make the 2020 Street Triple S resemble the 2020 RS model. The twin LED headlights are new and so is the sporty, angular bodywork including new fly screen, air intake, side panels and a sharper rear section. The mirrors too are restyled with more leverage and the motorcycle now gets additional paint schemes with contemporary decals.

In terms of the chassis, there are Nissin twin-discs upfront along with a single-caliper Brembo at the rear. You also get Showa pogos at both ends. The S rides on road focused all-weather Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres and on the electronics front there are two riding modes – Road and Rain, that adjust throttle response and traction control settings.

The updated Street Triple RS that we rode a couple of months ago in Spain is expected to be launched in India before March 2020. We expect the Street Triple S to arrive at our shores along with the RS variant. Once launched, the S will go up against the likes of Kawasaki Z650 and Ducati Monster 797 in the naked middleweight category.
