Here at evo India and Fast Bikes India, we love all things on wheels, and recently, our resident stunter, Hrishi Mandke, astride the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200, set the National Record for the fastest quarter-mile wheelie. The record was certified by adjudicators from the FMSCI and the India Book of Records.
This choice was a no-brainer. Bajaj has been at the forefront of the stunting scene in the country ever since the launch of the very first Pulsar. It was on a Pulsar, that Hrishi started his stunting career with and it was only fitting to use one for breaking a record at this stature.
The particular Pulsar for the occasion was the NS 200. With its stiff perimeter frame that endows it with balanced, predictable handling. The engine on the Pulsar NS 200 makes a class leading 24.2bhp giving Hrishi the performance he needs to smash the record.
The plan was to set the national record for the fastest quarter-mile wheelie in India. For this, we needed a controlled environment to attempt the record and for this we managed to secure the airstrip at the Baramati airport. To make it official, the team at evo India and Fast Bikes India, along with Hrishi approached the India Book of Records and the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of India (FMSCI) who sent adjudicators to the site to verify the record. For the most accurate results, we used a Racelogic VBox Touch to measure and analyse all the parameters required. Once all the bases were covered (including medical aid on site), Hrishi set out to create history, on one wheel! Cones were set on either end of the quarter-mile distance and Hrishi had to ensure that his front wheel was up in the air by the time he crossed the first cone and had to then accelerate and achieve the highest possible speed by shifting up the gearbox all with the front wheel still in the air. As if hitting top-whack on one wheel wasn’t enough drama already, the winds weren’t particularly kind, blowing Hrishi off his line, missing the finishing line cone by just a hair's width before dropping the front wheel. But despite all this he managed to set the record and how! It took Hrishi 23.68 seconds to cover the quarter-mile distance while hitting a top speed of 77.83kmph.
After the stellar show put on by Hrishi and the Pulsar NS 200 and after the overwhelming response from you’ll on our social media, we’re back at the airstrip in Baramati to set another record much more bonkers than this one. This time around, we're using the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160. Stay tuned and follow us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and YouTube to find out what it is. Till then watch the making of the record for India’s fastest quarter-mile wheelie with the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200.
