Royal Enfield Himalayan Sleet launched at Rs 2.12 lakh (on-road, Chennai)

India’s homebred bike manufacturer, Royal Enfield, has introduced the Himalayan Sleet. The adventure tourer features a new camouflage paint scheme which finds its roots in the Himalayas. The first 500 customers will get an Explorer kit pre-fitted on the motorcycle at an introductory price of Rs 2.12 lakh (on-road, Chennai). The kit includes two 26 litres water resistant aluminium panniers, pannier mounting rails, aluminium handlebar with cross brace and an engine bash guard with powder coated finish.

The Himalayan Sleet will be available exclusively for online booking at a token amount of Rs 5000. Interested buyers can register themselves on the Royal Enfield website from January 12 to January 30, 2018. Post registration, customers will be given a unique code which would be required to participate in the sale. The sale will go live on January 30, 2018 on first come first serve basis and interested buyers need to login on the RE website and pay the token amount.

There are no mechanical updates in the motorcycle. The newly launched Himalayan Sleet is essentially the same bike featuring a 411cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected motor that pumps out 24.5bhp of maximum power and 32Nm of peak torque.

Rudratej (Rudy) Singh, President, Royal Enfield, said, “The new Himalayan Sleet is inspired by the terrain of Royal Enfield’s spiritual home – the Himalayas, its craggy land, the gorges, edgy peaks all brought together in the colours of the sleet . Additionally, the first 500 owners will get pre-fitted Explorer Kits to help kick-start their personal expeditions on the Himalayan Sleet”.
