Okinawa i-Praise booked till end of 2019

The Okinawa Praise, which was launched in December 2017, has got an important update. It now gets a detachable lithium ion battery pack and this version is called ‘i-Praise’. The charging time of the Li-ion version is three hours, which is much less as compared to the eight hours of charging time for the lead acid battery variant. Claimed range is 160-180km on a single charge. The Okinawa i-Praise is expected to be launched by the end of January and 450 of the 500 e-scooters are already booked.

The updated e-scooter is equipped with a number of new features including geo-fencing, virtual speed limit, battery health tracker, SOS notifications, service reminder and vehicle status. All these features can be accessed via ‘OkinawaEco’ app in Google Play store.

On achieving the targeted numbers for i-Praise, Jeetender Sharma, MD, Okinawa Scooters said: “We had set an initial target of closing bookings for 500 Okinawa i-Praise units by January 15, 2019 and we are thrilled to announce that we have achieved 90 per cent of this target well ahead of time. A major reason behind these really positive numbers is the fact that the e-scooter is equipped with detachable lithium-ion batteries that compellingly address the issues related to battery charging and the time consumed for the same. We have got a good response from Tier – II & Tier – III cities as well, which shows consumers in those cities are looking forward to accept the advanced technology and attracted towards detachable battery. Further, the other USPs that makes i-Praise ‘The Intelligent Scooter’ such as its long charging range and reduced weight have made it a very appealing buy for consumers at a pan-India level.”

The launch of the Li-ion variant of the Praise is a welcome move after the launch of the Ridge+ last year as both scooters eliminate, to an extent, the range anxiety associated with e-scooters.
