Valentino Rossi breaks his leg in a training accident

The 38 year old MotoGP hero – Valentino Rossi met an accident at an enduro training session on Thursday. Reports say that the tibia and the fibula bones of the right leg were broken and he was rushed immediately to the Civil Hospital of Urbino for initial diagnosis, and was later shifted to the Riuniti Hospital in Ancona for further treatment. He underwent surgery to rectify the damage and according to his Movistar Yamaha team, his operation was successful.
“The surgery went well. This morning, when I woke up, I felt already good. I would like to thank the staff of the Ospedali Riuniti in Ancona, and in particular Doctor Pascarella who operated on me. I’m very sorry for the incident. Now I want to be back on my bike as soon as possible. I will do my best to make it happen!” said Valentino Rossi after the operation.
The Italian motorcycle racing legend currently holds the fourth position in the MotoGP standings, he is 26 points behind Andrea Dovizioso who holds the first position. Next race is scheduled on September 10 at San Marino Circuit in Misano, Italy, which also happens to be the home circuit of Valentino Rossi. However, with this injury, his chances of winning the championship now seem bleak.
