TVS announces the final list of riders for the Himalayan Highs season 3
Words: Shubham Choukse
Himalayan Highs started when Anam Hashim, a 21 year old girl from Lucknow, completed a solo ride to Khardung La on a TVS Scooty Zest. Then in the second season, we saw the group of ten women lead by Anam once again take on the Himalayas on the Zest.
The Himalayan Highs season 3 will commence in the first week of September 2017, the team will begin the journey from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh going all the way up to Khardung La pass. Once again the journey will be completed on the Zest 110 scooters.
Commenting on this occasion, Aniruddha Haldar, Vice President (Marketing) Commuter Motorcycles, Scooters and Corporate Brand, TVS Motor Company, said, “TVS Zest 110, Himalayan Highs is fast evolving into a landmark event finding its place into the annual riding calendar of enthusiasts as well as aspirants. We are delighted to include both men and women riders this year. These are extraordinary young people who will discover the complete extent of their power and that of their machines on this journey of a lifetime.”
The Scooty Zest 110 is powered by a 110cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled motor churning out 7.8bhp of power and 8.4Nm of torque. It gets 10-inch tubeless tyres with drum brakes at the front and the rear. And it has a 5-litre fuel-tank.
The journey to Khardung La throws various challenges such as narrow mountain roads, rains, elevation changes and the decrementing oxygen level which is why most people head out there on motorcycles, and not scooters. Doing so on a scooter is an additional challenge.
