Triumph India confirms Rocket 3 GT launch for September 10

Triumph has confirmed that the GT variant of the Rocket 3 — the power cruiser, featuring the largest motor seen on any production motorcycle — will make its way to India on September 10. The Rocket 3 GT is a touring-oriented version of the R which made it to our shores last December; retaining most of the internals. Tweaks on the GT variant include a wider, rearward handlebar along with a lower seat, pillion backrest and three-way adjustable pegs.

The touring ‘bar paired with forward-set pegs enable a comfortable riding position for mile munching on the GT. The seat height is 750mm, lower than the sporty R’s by 23mm. The pegs can be adjusted to three horizontal positions to suit the rider. Triumph has also bestowed the GT with a brushed aluminium pillion backrest and a larger seat. It also features a windscreen to protect the rider from wind blast while touring. The GT variant also comes with heated grips and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. Besides these changes, the GT and R variants remain rather similar.

The Rocket 3 GT will derive power from Triumph’s signature inline-three 2458cc mill, as seen on the R, delivering a blistering 224Nm of twist at 4000rpm and 163bhp at the 6000rpm redline. The suspension comes from Showa in the form of 47mm USD forks and a fully adjustable monoshock. Brembo Stylema 4-pot calipers work with twin 320mm discs to drop the anchors up front while the rear employs a Brembo M4.32 monobloc unit paired with a 300mm rotor. The motorcycle will also come with cornering ABS as standard.

We expect the Rocket 3 GT to be priced approximately Rs 50000-1 lakh more than the R variant which would put it in the range of ₹18.5-19 lakh. Which one would you pick if you had the money?
