Suzuki launched the 2017 Gixxer GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R models in India
Suzuki launched the all-new 2017 Gixxer models the GSX-R1000 and the GSX-R1000R in India and are priced at Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The sixth generation of Suzuki’s litre-class superbike the 2017 Gixxer GSX-R1000 STD and the GSX-R1000R are built ground-up and will be available as CBUs in India. Both the models are built on a new frame which is more compact and narrower than the on-going models. The new twin-spar aluminium perimeter frame is 20mm narrower and weighs 10 per cent lighter, which in turn helps to bring down the kerb weight. Suzuki claim that this is the lightest and fastest GSX-R ever made.
Apart from the frame, Suzuki has also introduced a new 999.8cc engine in the 2017 Gixxer range which makes 199.1bhp at 13,200rpm and 117.6Nm of torque at 10,8000rpm. Suzuki has also worked to improve the bikes handling with the addition of Showa Big Piston forks up front, Brembo monoblock calipers for the front brakes, on the STD model while the GSX-R1000R model gets Showa Balance Free suspension for the front and rear and cornering ABS.
In terms of electronics both the models feature an advanced IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) which tracks the motion and position of the motorcycle in 6 directions, which in turn allows the 10-level Motion Track Traction control system, the new Motion Track ABS and cornering controls to be more precise and effective. The GSX-R1000R gets all of the aforementioned as well as launch Control and a quick shifter.
