Triumph India organises the sixth edition of Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride
Triumph Motorcycles, the official host of Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride in India, organised the sixth edition of the ride in Delhi on Sunday. The event was hosted officially in eight cities across the country. While the Delhi chapter itself witnessed more than 200 motorcyclists, almost 1500 motorcyclists turned up for the event across the country.
What is the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride?
The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride (DGR) was conceptualised by Mark Hawwa in Australia in 2012. The DGR’s aim is to raise awareness and support the cause of men’s health and prostate cancer and raise funds for prostate cancer research. The riders dress in their dapper best and ride classic and vintage motorcycles and scooters.
Triumph Motorcycles has been the official global partner for the Distinguish Gentlemen’s Ride across various countries and continents since 2014. In India, the first DGR was held in 2014, the same year that the brand entered India. Till date the ride has raised more than Rs 134 crores. The event is sponsored by Triumph and brands like Elf lubricants, REV’IT! Sports among many others.
On the occasion, Shoeb Farooq, GM Triumph Motorcycles India said, “3 out of 4 suicides across the globe are by men. Men’s mental health and prostate cancer are still a taboo not just in India, but globally as well. Men to an extent are also ignorant about their health; prostate cancer is the most common and ignored cause of cancer in men, To change this ignorance, the DGR was founded to bring about a unique approach and create awareness. The entire process of following a dress code and riding in harmony with fellow bikers is quite an enthralling experience to draw attention to men’s health issues.”
