Oben Electric Rorr launched, priced at ₹99,999 onwards
After the intense fever of the EV scooter race, it seems like a new race - that of the EV motorcycles - may be heating up. Oben Electric has become the latest manufacturer to launch its new Electric motorcycle, the ‘Rorr’, priced at ₹99,999 (ex-showroom) that aims to bring performance to the EV landscape.
Alongside its neo-classic styling, the Rorr is capable of accelerating from 0-40 in just 3 seconds, up to a top speed of 100kmph. The motorcycle has a claimed range of 200kms under IDC test conditions, and Oben claims a two hour charge time. Being an EV, there are several connected features such as Predictive maintenance, Ride details, Battery status, Geo-fencing, Geo-tagging, Battery theft protection, Charging station locator, On-demand service, and Roadside assistance, as well as 3 Drive Modes. For the first time in the market, a gamification feature will also be introduced with Rorr, according to Oben Electric, “to revolutionize the consumer’s engagement with the motorcycle and other owners.”
The company is bullish about its “Made in India” tag and highlights that the Rorr is completely designed, developed, and manufactured in-house within the country. The team has also patented several of its innovations, including in the motor, battery, controller and drivetrain. The Rorr can be booked starting today for a deposit of ₹999 and comes available in seven colour options. Test rides for the Rorr will begin from May, while deliveries are expected to begin by July 2022.
Speaking about the new motorcycle, Dinkar Agrawal, Co-Founder & COO said, “We are aligned with the country’s electric mission and support the Government’s initiatives to creating a sustainable clean-green mobility solution and bolstering the seamless transition from ICE to EVs. In line with the same vision, we also strongly believe that EVs can be made exciting and reliable. Hence, Rorr has been developed keeping in mind top factors such as performance, reliability, exquisite design, style, quality, dependability, and agility.”
The company is promising a 3-year/60,000kms Battery Warranty and a 3-year Motor & Controller warranty, and has built a new manufacturing facility in Bengaluru that aims to produce 3 lakh units per year at maximum capacity. It also aims to enter seven new cities by Q2 2022. The closest competitors to the Rorr will be the Revolt RV400 and the Tork Kratos R.
