Indian Scout Bobber to be launched at 2017 India Bike Week
Words: Ganesh Murthy
Indian is all geared up to bring in the Scout Bobber to our shores as the bike will be launched on the first day of the 2017 India Bike Week in Vagator, Goa. The bike bears the same underpinnings as the Scout with modifications done to suit the bobber styling.
The Bobber has a butch design and the blacked out exhaust and engines give it an aggressive look. It gets blacked out speedometers and has drop down rear view mirrors. It also gets bob-cut fenders and side mounted license plates that add more style. The ground clearance of the bike is a low 123mm as compared to the 135mm on the Scout and has a seat height of 649mm which is 25mm lower than the Scout.
It is powered by a liquid cooled V-Twin 1133cc engine that does the duty in the Scout and it produces a power of 94bhp and 97Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission but misses out on the likes of a slipper clutch.
Front suspension is a cartridge type – telescopic fork unit that has a travel of 120mm, rear suspension is managed by dual shocks that have 50mm of travel as compared to the 76mm of travel in the Scout and the Bobber leans less. Braking duties are performed by a twin-piston calliper on the single front rotor and a single piston calliper on the rear rotor, both discs bearing the same 298mm dia.
Optional accessories on the motorcycle include the leather pillion seat, black finished slip-on exhausts for a throatier note and an all-weather saddlebag. The Scout Bobber will be a CBU and it is priced at roughly Rs 15 lakh with all the customs and duties.
