Honda CB200X launched at Rs 1.44 lakh
After many teasers, Honda 2 Wheelers India has finally launched the much anticipated CB200X at Rs 1.44 lakh. It is based on Hornet 2.0 and gets a new tall visor, fairing, raised handlebar differentiating it from its naked sibling.
Design
The design of the CB200X is based on Hornet 2.0. It looks muscular and the rear is extremely similar to the naked sibling. To make the bike more comfortable for long days in the saddle Honda has given the CB 200 X a tall visor, raised handlebars, and knuckle guards. Interestingly, the knuckle guards get integrated LED turn indicators. It gets a new underbelly cowl and an upswept exhaust but the split seat and petrol tank remain the same. The CB200X continues to get 17-inch alloy wheels but these are now shod in dual-purpose tyres. The adventure tourer is available with three colour options — Pearl Nightstar Black, Matte Selene Silver Metallic and Sports Red.
Engine and chassis
The CB200X uses the same 184.4cc BS6 engine found on the Hornet 2.0 but has slightly lower power and torque figures at 16.3bhp at 8500rpm and 15.5Nm at 6000rpm and it remains mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The chassis setup of the CB200X also appears to be the same as the naked sibling with upside-down forks up front and a mono-shock suspension at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 276mm disc in the front with a two-piston Nissin calliper and a 220mm disc with a single-piston calliper. Even ground clearance at 167mm, remains unchanged.
Features
The CB200X borrows all of its features from the naked sibling. It gets all-LED illumination and a fully digital LCD instrument cluster. In terms of rider aids, it has features like single-channel ABS and hazard switch.
Commenting on the launch, Atsushi Ogata, managing director, president & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Today, it is my great pleasure to introduce a new motorcycle, inspired by Honda’s legendary CB legacy. Keeping in mind the evolving lifestyle of the Indian youth, the urban explorer - CB200X gives today’s youngsters a riding experience that pushes them to explore more. Built to excite riders, CB200X offers a perfect riding companion for their daily city rides and short weekend getaways beyond the cityscapes.”
The Honda CB200X is an adventure tourer and not a fully blown ADV motorcycle, but based on its displacement, the closest rival to the bike is Hero's Xpulse 200 which is priced at Rs 1.2 lakh and undercuts the CB here by Rs 24,000. Bookings for the Honda CB200X are now open for a token amount of Rs 2000 and deliveries will begin by the first week of September.
