Erik Buell unveils two electric vehicles under a new brand

Published on

Erik Buell, the founder of Buell Motorcycle, is back with two electric vehicles – an e-bike and an electric motorcycle. Both of them will be sold internationally under the brand ‘Fuell’. The Fuell brand was co-founded by Erik Buell along with Frédéric Vasseur, who is the current team principal of the Alfa Romeo Formula 1 team and founder of Spark Racing Technology (which builds the Formula E racers), and Francois-Xavier Terny, an entrepreneur.

The Flow

The Flow is a futuristic looking motorcycle with its vertically stacked dual headlamps and sports cruiser like appearance. It gets USD forks, a monoshock mounted on the side and a big digital instrument cluster. The electric motor is housed in the rear wheel, thus eliminating the need for any power transmission mediums like chain or belt drives and keeping the weight in check. This also liberates 50-litres of space for internal storage. Range is a claimed 201km on a single charge and it will take 30 minutes to juice up the battery with a public charger, according to the company. The bike will also get multiple connectivity and security features, says the company.

The Fluid

It is the e-bike from the company and is available in two versions – Pedelec  and S-Pedelec . The Pedelec and S-Pedelec have a top speed of 32kmph and 45kmph respectively. Torque is a claimed 100Nm. Unlike other bikes, they get a carbon belt each and internal hub gears. The two removable batteries on each bike have a total charge capacity of 1000Wh.

Both the Flow and Fluid e-vehicles are upgradeable (battery, wheel-motor and charger). The company aims to bring back the joys of city riding sans the pollution and noise from traditional IC engine counterparts.

The electric motorcycle will be sold for international markets from 2021. Deliveries for the Fluid will begin internationally from this year, says the company. Prices in the USA will be USD 10,995 for the Flow and USD 3,295 for the Fluid.
