Hero showcases Xtreme 1.R concept at EICMA 2019
Hero MotoCorp showcased the Xtreme 1.R Concept at EICMA 2019. The Xtreme 1.R serves as a preview to the next-generation Xtreme. The new Hero Xtreme is expected to be targeted towards the youth and the concept motorcycle with its sharp, aggressive lines is starkly different from the conservative design of the current gen Xtreme.
Hero says that the Xtreme 1.R Concept weighs in at 140kg (kerb) and is inspired by the precision of an arrow which subsequently results in a design that is sharp with a committed stance. The LED headlamp looks the part too and the sculpted tank adds beefiness to the motorcycle. The tail section has an LED lamp below the cowl and a small GoPro is integrated into the cowl. Other concept flourishes include a floating rider’s seat, beefy front fork, radially mounted front brake calipers and slick tyres.
Not much is known about the engine that is powering the concept motorcycle other than the fact that all efforts will be directed towards ensuring that the bike stays lightweight, which in turn could mean that a 160cc engine will find its way there eventually.
Hero also displayed a Rally Kit for the Xpulse 200 aimed at young riders wanting to ride competitively off-road. However, the kit is not homologated for use on the road.
The kit includes fully adjustable, taller suspension at either end, a flatter seat, extended gear lever, handlebar risers, and dirt tyres to improve its off-road capabilities. The engine continues to be the 199.6cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that produces 18bbhp and 17.1Nm of torque. The sprockets have been changed to a 12T front and a 40T rear from higher torque at the wheel. Prices and more details on availability will be known early next year.
