Ducati Scrambler Café Racer launched at Rs 9.32 lakh

Ducati Scrambler Café Racer has finally been launched it India after being showcased at 2016 EICMA. Priced same as the Desert Sled variant, which was launched a few weeks back, the Café Racer caters to those who prefer a slightly stylised version of the iconic Scrambler brand.

Having discontinued the Scrambler Icon sometime back, Ducati is back in India with the updated BS-IV compliant Scrambler range. As the name suggests, the Scrambler Café Racer gets flat handlebars with bar-end mirrors, swept back seat, 17” cast aluminium alloy wheels finished in golden and a matte finish Termignoni exhaust. The ‘54’ decal pays tribute to Bruno Spaggiai, a successful Ducati rider who raced in Mototemporada Romagnola, a classic road event in 1968. The engine on his bike was derived from the Scrambler’s 350cc, single-cylinder unit.

The Scrambler Café Racer gets the same air-cooled 803cc, L-twin motor that churns out 72bhp of power and 67Nm of torque. It runs on Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres, with 120/70 R17 at the front and 180/55 R17 at the rear. The braking duties are handled by Brembo 4-32s, with 330mm discs at the front and 245mm discs at the rear.

At the launch event Mr. Sergi Canovas Garriga, Managing Director of Ducati India said, “This motorcycle is a modern interpretation of the legendary Café Racer scene from the 1960s that triggered a motorcycling revolution. It represents the expression of free spirit and is an icon of style for enthusiasts. We’re very confident that with the Ducati Scrambler Café Racer, we will successfully bring the global cultural phenomenon to India as well.”

Ducati is expected to launch the entry-level Scrambler variants, Icon and Full Throttle sometime later this year in India.
