BMW Motorrad announces the prices for India
BMW has brought its entire lineup to India except the F series and going by the prices, the entire deal is expected to be a gamechanger for the market.
Starting with the R 1200 R, the most affordable of the lot, which is priced at Rs 14.9 lakh, going all the way to K 1600 GTL, priced at Rs 28.5 lakh, the range includes Sports, Tourer, Heritage and Adventure bikes. Most notably, the suitable bike for our conditions, the R 1200 GS is priced at Rs 15.9 lakh, making it a yummy prospect. Prices for its closest rival, the Ducati Multistrada 1200 start at Rs 14.85 lakh. The Triumph Tiger Explorer is expensive though, at Rs 18.75 lakh. (All prices ex-showroom Delhi)
The S 1000 RR, the maniacal litre-class bike that also won the Fast Bikes Sportbike of The Year award (read issue 01 for details) is priced at Rs 18.90 lakh (Standard) while its naked version, the S 1000 R is cheaper by Rs 2 lakh.
Going by the prices, we believe that the motorcycles are brought out by the CKD route, but BMW has confirmed that all the bikes are CBUs. However, a standard R 1200 GS costs 15,150 euros, which roughly equates to Rs 10.33 lakh. We will have to wait for further information when the official launch takes place on April 12.
