2022 Ducati Diavel V4 revealed with more power and less weight
The Ducati Diavel V4 has one been one of the meanest looking bikes on the roads. However, it seems Ducati thought it wasn’t enough, and has updated the Diavel to even higher levels. The 2022 Ducati Diavel V4 is a complete upgrade of the Diavel from head to toe, while retaining the original big-bruiser cruiser formula. Let’s check out what’s new on the rocket from Bologna.
The most obvious upgrades are visual, as the Diavel becomes more edgy and mean and loses some of the curvacious muscularity it had before. The updates give it a very Ducati family appearance, with the Ducati Monster also recently having gone through the same routine. The four-tipped exhaust is beautifully designed, along with tighter lines on the bodywork. However, the design is divisive, as some might find the changes too far from the traditional Diavel formula.
The biggest change however is the new 1158cc V4 Granturismo engine that is shared with the Multistrada V4 and V4S. Producing 166bhp and 125Nm of torque in a proven stonker of a power unit, the Diavel V4 gains peak torque but loses one pony compared to its adventurer sibling, hinting at its power cruiser intentions.
To deal with this impressive new power unit, the 2022 Diavel V4 also gets a wholly updated chassis, weighing 236kg (wet), a decrease of 11kg from the previous model. Brembo provides top-drawer Stylema callipers to the Diavel V4, while the suspension is a set of beefy 50mm USD front forks and monoshock at the rear both of which are fully adjustable. There are also four riding modes covering Sport, Touring, Urban and Wet with three power modes. You also get the latest electronics which include cornering traction control, cornering ABS, launch control, and Ducati Wheelie Control.
The 2022 Ducati Diavel V4 competes with similar cruisers, such as the newly released BMW R 1250 R and Triumph Rocket 3s. However, its menacing character and blistering V4 engine are sure to be a USP to the other brutes in the class.
