2020 KTM range launched with BS6 engines | 200 Duke gets an entire makeover
With BS6 deadline fast approaching, automobile manufacturers are updating their portfolios with BS6-compliant vehicles. KTM too is in this race and the brand has promptly launched their lineup of Duke and RC models with BS6 engines, along with some minor updates. The biggest change is in the 200 Duke, whose design and styling is now more in line with its bigger siblings. Luckily, the prices have not sky-rocketed and the 2020 KTM range is dearer only by Rs 3,300 to Rs 6,500 (except for the 200 Duke).
Big makeover for the 200 Duke
The 2020 KTM 200 Duke draws design inspiration from the iconic 1290 Super Duke R. Its overall stance now blends well with the rest of the Duke family (except the 125 Duke) with new lightweight split trellis frame, tank and headlamp. The LED DRLs and a dual-channel ABS are new and another upgrade is the fuel tank capacity increasing from 10.2 litres to 13.5 litres, so riders can now enjoy an additional 30 per cent range. The dry weight has increased from 134kg to 150kg thanks to the additional kit on offer. In fact, the 200 Duke sports the new chassis that was first seen on the 390 Duke in 2017, and the weight increase is a part of this new setup, that adds 16kg. There are also two new colour options – Electronic Orange and Ceramic White and the 200 Duke retails for Rs 1.72 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Minor upgrades for rest of the lot
The 390 ‘corner rocket’ Duke now gets a bi-directional quickshifter+ for you to seamlessly shift without even letting off the throttle. The 250 Duke meanwhile gets dual-channel ABS with SuperMoto mode as standard, letting you switch off ABS at the rear wheel for some exciting slides. Apart from a cleaner BS6 engine, the 2020 RC 200 now gets dual-channel ABS as standard.
And, if you’re anxious regarding the reduced power and torque figures due to the BS6 trickery, fret not, as KTM has retained the same power and torque outputs in all the motorcycles. Also, there are multiple new colours and graphics available with the entire 2020 KTM range.
