Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the 2018 CB Shine SP starting at Rs. 62,032 for the drum brake variant. The CB Shine SP is available in two more variants, the disc variant and the CBS variant. The CB Shine SP disc variant is priced at Rs. 64,518 and the one with CBS is priced at Rs. 66, 508 – all prices ex-showroom, Delhi. The updated bike was first showcased at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2018, along with HMSI’s entire motorcycle and scooter line-up. The CB Shine SP only gets aesthetic updates and continues to be the powered by the same engine.
The 2018 Honda CB Shine SP gets a new tank design with extensions and new stickers all across the body. A new analog-digital instrument console is probably the biggest update and it includes a service indicator and a clock, apart from all the standard dials. Everything else remains the same on the 125cc commuter.
The updated Honda CB Shine SP continues to be powered by the same 124.73 cc single cylinder, air-cooled engine that makes 10.16 bhp at 7500 rpm and 10.30 Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Telescopic forks at the front and twin shocks at the rear handle suspension duties. The CB Shine however gets three different braking setups in the three variants, the base variant includes twin drum brakes, followed by a front disc brake for the mid variant and the option of the Combi-Braking System (CBS) for the top variant. The bike rides on 18-inch wheels.
The Honda CB Shine SP and the CB Shine are the highest selling 125 cc motorcycles globally, followed closely by the Hero Glamour. With this update, Honda seeks to thwart the challenge that the recently launched new Bajaj Discover 125 poses to its dominance.
