Sherco TVS Rally Team wins big at the Baja Aragon Rally 2018
Michael Metge grabs the first position for Sherco TVS Rally Team at the Baja Aragon Rally 2018. Adrien Metge managed a third position in the rankings making it a big win for the team. Aishwarya Pissay successfully completed the first stage in 77th position, but was forced to retire from stage two due to an unfortunate crash.
The 35th edition of the Baja Aragon Rally kicked off in Teruel, Spain on 20 July 2018. It started off with a free practice session and a prologue stage of 12.8 kilometres. The stages proved to be a win-win for Sherco TVS team as Michael Metge finished at the top of the standings almost 12 seconds ahead. This was Michael’s maiden rally with the Sherco TVS team and he was in excellent form.
“Baja is a great learning ground as a part of the pre-Dakar series. I am happy with this solid start and will do my best to keep the momentum going” said Michael Metge commenting on his performance on the first day of the Rally.
Stage one proved to be a run of good luck for the Sherco TVS Rally Team, with Michael Metge finishing in P1, close to 12 seconds ahead of Dani Oliveras in P2. Adrien Metge had a slower pace due to an ankle injury, finished with a commendable fifth place. Aishwarya Pissay is the first woman representing the Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team. Aishwarya performed really well and finished the stage one of the prologue successfully.
In the second stage of the grueling Baja Aragon Rally the riders had to cover a 147km stage which was located in the region of Teruel, Spain. The winning streak continues for Sherco TVS and Michael Metge as he finished the prologue in first place with Pedrero following closely in P2. Adrien Metge managed to climb up to P3 from his P5 finish in the last prologue.
At the finish line, Michael Metge was more than a minute ahead of the competition. Adrien Metge managed to move up in the rankings, ahead of M. Sola who finished in P4. Aishwarya Pissay who was making her international debut suffered an unfortunate crash and had to undergo a surgery for the same.
Commenting on his performance, Michael Metge, Racer, Sherco TVS Factory Rally Team said, “There was a lot of pressure on me at the start but I am happy that I could maintain my top position and look forward to finish the Rally with the same momentum. My team has been a great support for me and my bike is in a great shape.”
