Mahindra launches Mojo UT300

Mahindra launches Mojo UT300

Words: Team Fast Bikes India

Mahindra’s Mojo is back, in a new UT, short for universal tourer, 300 avatar. The bike has been priced at Rs 1.49 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi and as part of its introductory offer, Mahindra is offering benefits of Rs 10,000 per motorcycle. The introductory offer is valid till March.

The UT300 is powered by the same liquid-cooled 292cc single that powers the regular Mojo. In the UT300 however the Mojo’s fuel injection has been traded in for old school carburettion. Given that Mahindra hasn’t released the tech specs of this bike it’s unclear how this move would affect the engine’s output. However, it would be fair to say that any alteration to the output would be minimal and of no real consequence.

Mahindra has also decided to give the regular Mojo’s inverted forks a miss and gone for conventional telescopic units instead for the UT300. The fabulous Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres too have been swapped for MRFs. Visually, the bike gets new colour schemes and there is no longer any sign of gold anywhere on the motorcycle.

All these goodies that made the old Mojo tempting have been retained in the more expensive Mojo XT, for xtreme tourer, 300 variant of the bike. This latter bike retains the Pirelli rubber, USD front fork and fuel injection.

Back to the UT300, it’s unclear at this moment however how this revised Mojo will stand up to Bajaj’s Dominar, which will be the Mojo’s natural rival even though both motorcycles are ostensibly aimed at the Royal Enfield line up. The Bajaj after all sports a bigger engine, looks better, handles better than the regular Mojo on which the UT300 is based and offers ABS for a premium of just Rs 7,000.
