Hero MotoCorp today has launched as many as three motorcycles at the Buddh International Circuit. Stealing the spotlight of course is the XPulse 200 ADV which has been launched at Rs 97,000, ex-showroom, Delhi. The fuel injected variant of the XPulse costs Rs 1,05,000 while the XPulse 200T, which is the touring version of the ADV is launched at Rs 94,000. Hero has also launched the Xtreme 200S, which is the faired version of the standard Xtreme at Rs 98,500.

The first 200cc adventure motorcycle
The Hero XPulse 200 is India’s first 200cc ADV. It is targeted at those looking for an entry level bike to get into the world of off-roading and adventure. It’s built on a diamond type high tensile steel frame that is built to withstand all-terrain riding. The telescopic front suspension has 190mm travel while the 10-step adjustable rear monoshock has 170mm of wheel travel. At 220mm the ground clearance is the same as the Royal Enfield Himalayan. Braking duties are carried out by a 276mm petal disc upfront with single channel ABS and a 220mm rear disc.
The Hero XPulse 200 gets a 21inch tyre upfront and an 18inch one at the rear while the touring variant, the Hero XPulse 200T gets 17inch tyres at both ends. Seat height on the XPulse 200 is 825mm while the 200T gets a lower seat height of 795mm. The faired Xtreme 200S too comes a diamond type frame. It also runs on the same sized tyres as the Xtreme 200T and the brakes too are the same. The ground clearance is of course much lower at 165mm.

Powering Hero’s XPulse 200 ADV and the Xtreme 200S
The entire XPulse range is powered by the same 199.6cc, aircooled engine that makes 18bhp at 8000rpm and 17.1Nm of torque at 6500rpm. Power is transferred via a 5-speed gearbox that’s mated to a wet multiplate clutch. The Xtreme 200S too is powered by the same engine which delivers a similar output. In the ADVs though we’re expecting a good amount of bottom end grunt for better performance in harsh terrains and off-road trails.
On the features front
The XPulse 200 and 200T are equipped with an LCD instrument cluster that comes with first in class ‘Turn by turn’ navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, gear indicator, trip meter, and service reminder. There are also LED headlamps and tail lamps, under seat USB charger, windshield, luggage plate and bungee hooks. In addition, the 200T gets large pillion grip with tie points and luggage rack with rubber pads.
