EICMA 2018: Ducati uncovers its 2019 model range ahead of the event

Ducati MY19 bikes unveiled ahead of EICMA

Ducati has unveiled its 2019 model range at the Ducati World Premiere 2019, an event held by the company to unite key Ducati dealers across the globe. The event was held just before the EICMA 2018, that’s set to take place in Milan from November 8 to 11. The company plans to unveil nine new models and three new versions of the existing ones. And the stars in this range include the all-new Panigale V4 R, Diavel 1260 and the Hypermotard 950.

1) Ducati Panigale V4 R

The all-new Panigale V4 R looks like it’s here to terrorize. Not that the V4 and V4 S weren’t mad enough but the V4 R has upped the game on a whole new level. The bike bristles with tech from Ducati’s MotoGP bikes. The engine, suspension set-up as well as the design has been developed by Duacti Corse in collaboration with Ducati Style Centre.

The front fairing is entirely made from carbon-fibre while the Desmosedici Stradale 1103cc engine has been replaced with the 998cc Desmosedici Stradale R. It complies with displacement limits set by WSBK rules. For a bike that weighs just 172kg (dry), it produces a staggering 217bhp at 15,250rpm and 112Nm of torque at 11,500rpm. If that’s not enough there’s also a racing kit in which you get the Ducati Performance exhaust by Akrapovič, which boosts maximum power to 230bhp at 15,500 rpm.

The Panigale V4 R comes standard with Ducati Safety Pack which includes a host of electronic aids like Bosch Cornering ABS EVO, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, Ducati Slide Control (DSC), Engine Brake Control (EBC) EVO. It also has different riding modes and auto tyre calibration.

2) Diavel 1260

Another major unveiling was the 1262cc Testastretta powered ‘Devil’s Advocate’, the Diavel 1260. The power cruiser has an edgier design than the XDiavel range and is also higher on performance. The Diavel 1260 sports a new chassis set-up. It’s characterised by a new tubular steel Trellis frame and has a new 17 inch rear wheel with a 240 mm wide tyre. Ducati says this has resulted in better handling and the motorcycle is great for long distance cruising as well.

It’s powered by Ducati’s Testastretta DVT 1262 engine that delivers 156.8bhp at 9,500 rpm and 129Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. A sportier S version of the Diavel 1260 is also available: its features include fully adjustable Öhlins suspension at front and rear. Moreover, the S version mounts Ducati Quick Shift up & down Evo (DQS) as standard to allow clutch-less shifting.

3) Hypermotard 950

Ducati has also unveiled the all-new Hypermotard 950. The company says that the new supermoto is racier and more rider-friendly the Hypermotard 959. It’s even 4kg lighter and gets a renewed 937cc Testastretta 11° engine. It makes 112.4bhp at 9000rpm and 96Nm of torque at 7250rpm.

There’s also the high performance variant- Hypermotard 950 SP. It features a flat seat, increased-travel Öhlins suspension to ensure an acuter lean angle (+3°), Marchesini forged wheels and Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up and Down EVO. The ADV gets a seat height of 870mm and weighs only 178kg.
