Classic Motoheads – Vintage Yamaha motorcycles

Classic Motoheads, an event that was all things blue smoke and music. A collection of old school, vintage Yamaha two-stroke bikes which seem to be babied around by their respective owners. If you live and breath two-strokes, and blue smoke is your oxygen, this is the ideal place to hang. The event was organised by Bombay Cool & Vintage, a club which was formed by three friends Jignesh Mistry, Aarnav Shirshad and how can we forget our MTV star, Rannvijay Singha. The trio shares a common interest in all things that are hip, cool, vintage and old school.

The Classic Motoheads meet was held on the first Saturday of December at a small town of Pali, in Raigad District of Maharashtra. For enthusiasts from Pune, it was approximately a three odd hour ride, depending on whether one had eleven or forty horses between the legs. The event featured a collection of Yamaha RX and RD350 motorcycles, an Autojumble and live music. The Autojumble featured second hand, refurbished motorcycle parts and restored motorcycles. A simple Yamaha RX and RD350 owners meet, where right kind of people share their passion and enjoy to the fullest.
Close to 120 enthusiasts took part, showcasing their 2-stroke beauties, both in stock condition and customised. There were numerous iterations of the RD350 and the RX series bikes showcased. Scrambler style, café racer, colour bombed and drag spec, you name it. To make things interesting, there were three competition categories.

The ‘Best Restoration’ prize was given to the most well executed restoration, to the bike that looks the same it did when it came out of the showroom. ‘Best Maintained’ for the most well maintained motorcycle regardless of the modifications done to it. And lastly, the ‘Best Customized Bike’ for tastefully modded motorcycles. Meets like these attract a handful, but a very passionate lot of enthusiasts. All-in-all a lovely effort by the Bombay Cool and Vintage club.
