BMW Motorrad unveils its range of motorcycles and a mid-size scooter at EICMA 2017

BMW Motorrad has been in the news in India since 2015 when it unveiled the BMW G310R as a concept and the recently showcased GS 310. While both these motorcycles still grab the headlines BMW Motorrad has unveiled some interesting concept bikes at the EICMA 2017 and some of them might even make it to our shores. Here is the list of bikes that were unveiled in Milan at EICMA 2017.

BMW F750 GS and F 850 GS

The new versions of these two adventure tourers are powered by the same 853cc twin cylinder engine but in different states of tune. While the engine produces a maximum of 77bhp and 83Nm of torque in the F750GS, it puts out 95bhp and 92Nm in the F850GS. Transmission is via a 6-speed gearbox. Rider aids include ABS, ASC plus rain and road modes as standard. Optional tech bits include ESA electronic suspension adjustment, DTC and the new riding modes like Dynamic and Enduro for the 750GS and Enduro pro for the 850GS. They also come with full LED headlight and optional LED DRLs as option. Both  motorcycles come with a 6.5-inch TFT screen .There are speculations that BMW Motorrad might bring these adventure motorcycles to Indian shores, but nothing is confirmed yet.

BMW C 400 X

BMW Motorrad first unveiled the BMW C 600 and the BMW C 650 GT in 2011 in the maxi-scooter or the “urban mobility” segment as BMW Motorrad calls it. Now at EICMA 2017, it has unveiled the BMW C 400 X, sporting a sharp and dynamic design.  This mid-size scooter concept is powered by a fuel injected 350cc single cylinder which churns out 34bhp and 35Nm and is mated to a CVT. Rider aids include digital engine control, ASC and ABS as standard.

BMW K 1600 Grand America

Expanding its touring range, BMW Motorrad has unveiled its grand tourer that is aimed at “comfortable travel” as they put it, the BMW K 1600 Grand America. This friendly giant of a motorcycle is powered by a 6-cylinder engine gives a peak power and torque output of 160bhp and 175Nm. Maximum power is produced at 7750rpm. Standard rider aids are engine protection bars, ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control DTC, xenon headlight, heated grips, seat heating, Multi-Controller, three riding modes (Rain, Road, and Dynamic), cruise control and audio system with navigation preparation. Optional accessories include adaptive turning light, daytime riding light, Keyless Ride, Hill Start Control, reverse assist and central locking.

BMW G310R and BMW GS310

The G310R made heads turn when BMW Motorrad and TVS announced their partnership for building this 300cc naked motorcycle for the Indian market. It got even more interesting when they announced that the adventure sibling of the G310R the GS310 will also join the portfolio for Indian market. We spoke to Timo Resch, sales and marketing head of BMW Motorrad headquarters in Munich and he said that both these bikes would be ready for India launch for the second half of 2018.
