Simple Energy created a lot of hype when it launched the Simple One electric scooter on Indpendence Day alongside the Ola S1. Simple also said that bookings were open and one could book the scooter from an amount of Rs 1947, but we’re yet to see any examples on the road. One of the major reasons could be because of the fact that the scooter was launched while still in the pre-production stages. However, that all is set to change soon.
The electric scooter manufacturer claims that it has racked up nearly 30000 bookings till now, and the reasons it pointed out for delay in production was due to the shortage of components and the ongoing pandemic. However, Simple Energy now claims it is ready to ramp up production and commence deliveries of the scooter from June 2022 onwards, across multiple cities at once. Simple Energy is also said to be working on an improved version of the scooter, and details on that front are expected to arrive in the coming few months.
At present, the Simple One electric scooter is expected to feature a claimed range of 203km from the combination of a fixed and a removable 4.8kWh battery pack, which can be topped up from 0-80 per cent in 2.7 hours with the home charger. It is worth noting that the removable battery can be charged in just 75 minutes. Launched at Rs 1.1 lakh (without subsidies and FAME II incentives), it is unknown whether the improved version of the scooter will carry a higher price tag or not. However, with numerous electric scooters entering the market, it remains to be seen how the Simple One will fare when deliveries commence from June 2022.
