Will KTM Be Surprising Us With A 250 Duke Tomorrow?

Published on

Here’s what we know about tomorrow’s KTM launch, the company will be launching the much awaited and all new 390 Duke tomorrow along with a largely unchanged 200 Duke. But there seems to be more to this story than meets the eye for the grapevine is abuzz with news that the folks in orange might just launch a 250 Duke as well.

If you want to know what to expect in the new Dukes then head to our preview of the 390 and 200 Dukes, but here we take a look at what might be in store for India’s orange biker clan if KTM vindicate our speculations tomorrow.

The 250 will be an all-new bike, inspired by the Super Duke, just like its elder sibling, the 390. Powered by a single-cylinder, liquid cooled 249cc engine it makes 29.5bhp and 24Nm. It also gets dual-channel ABS as standard. However, not all elements will be shared with the 390. The 250 is expected to come with the old instrument cluster (as seen on the MY2016 200 Duke) and even the split headlight has been given a miss. Tyre duties are expected to be taken care by MRF Revz C1s unlike the Metzelers on the 390.

Riding the 250 Duke be an all-new experience for Indian bike junta that has been accustomed to the Duke 200 and 390. We already know that the MY17 Dukes are expected to be even more aggressive than the old bikes as they get raised seat height and slightly tweaked ergonomics. Expect the 200 Duke to be priced reasonably for the entry-level buyer but the 250 and 390 Dukes will be slightly more expensive. Watch this space for updates.
